About Family Counselling Centre

Family Counselling Centre is a not-for-profit, community-based agency that provides Sarnia-Lambton residents with a variety of professional counselling, support, prevention and coordination services.

We Believe:

  • that every individual has the right to attain their full potential;
  • that the family unit, as defined by each individual, has the greatest potential to support each of its members in achieving personal fulfillment;
  • that every individual and family has the right to excellence in service regardless of their economic status, gender, ability and system of beliefs and values;
  • that each Board member, staff and volunteer is vital to the Centre and equally valued for their contributions;
  • that every individual and family has value, integrity and the right to privacy;
  • that collaboration with other organizations is essential in maximizing community resources.

Our Mission: To assist, educate and strengthen individuals, families and community through programs, partnerships and resources.

The People We Serve

  • In 2007/08 Family Counselling Centre helped over 6,400 people through a wide range of programs.
  • Approximately 2,537 individuals/families benefited from our various Family, Couple and Individual counselling programs.
  • Approximately 1,055 individuals/families were helped through our support programs.
  • Additionally, we reached 2,653 people through our prevention/education programs and 155 through our early intervention programs.
  • Our telephone support programs were involved in approximately 20,000 calls, while our Crisis Line received 2,359 calls.
  • Further, we provided information about community resources with respect to over 610 calls.

Our Volunteers

134 volunteers helped to deliver Family and Schools Together, Kids on the Block, Distress Line and Tel-Check programs, as well as assisting with fundraising and Board work.
