We are currently seeking an independent, motivated, organized person to assist the Program Coordinator. 

Responsibilities will include service evaluation and design to enhance program awareness; administrative duties; provision of ongoing support and direction for a team of volunteers; monitoring and maintaining the volunteer shift schedule.  The individual will participate in an in-house training program on risk assessment and crisis intervention in order to make daily Tel-Check calls to seniors and persons with disabilities living alone in the community; and, to receive incoming calls from individuals from all walks of life who may be in crisis/distress and/or just need a listening ear to talk about mental illness, relationship/abuse issues, suicide, self-harm, caregiver stress, senior’s health issues or other issues.

The ideal candidate will possess the following knowledge and skills:

  • Preference for a university or college student enrolled in Social Services field
  • Proven administrative skills
  • Computer literacy – expertise in Word
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Empathy
  • Knowledge regarding how to assist vulnerable populations
  • Ability to work varied/flexible hours when required.
  • Distress Line training is an asset
