Position Information

The Supervised Access Program Lambton Coordinator will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Supervised Access Centre which provides a neutral, safe and child-focused setting for separated families to have visits and exchanges with their children. The Coordinator will work with community partners, promote supervised access services, conduct intakes, set visit/exchange appointments, prepare and submit reports and other coordination duties. The Coordinator will also have “on-site” hours at the Supervised Access Centre to train, monitor and supervise staff or fill open shifts.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • The coordination and supervision of the day-to-day operations of the supervised access program.
  • Know the policies, procedures and Best Practices of the SAPL and Family Counselling Centre to ensure and enforce consistent implementation and adherence.
  • Assist with the development and implementation of new SAPL policies, procedures and guidelines, including legislative and Ministry directed.
  • Recruit, orient and train new staff and/or volunteers to ensure sufficient coverage.
  • Supervision and evaluation of the performance of Family Workers / volunteers with follow-up on performance issues as required.
  • Ensure the safety of all participants and staff.
  • Conduct initial interviews with all new prospective clients to the program.
  • Develop service contracts between the SAPL parties involved to ensure an understanding of the services to be provided and the expectations of the users.
  • Determine appropriate fee and payment arrangements for each of the parties involved in the program.
  • Schedule all visit/exchange appointments.
  • Prepare visit notes (updates, changes, alerts) for staff in advance of visits.
  • Create staff work schedules in advance to ensure proper coverage.
  • Review and audit client contact notes. Follow-up as necessary and appropriate.
  • Complete administration duties such as monthly program statistics, annual reports, operation manuals, service plans. Learn and use the iSAID program.
  • Prepares reports about the participants’ use of the service for Court, lawyers and other community agencies as required. Determine appropriate fee and bill for reports.
  • Maintain good working relationships with other supervised access sites through participation at regional meetings, reviews and mandatory provincial meetings.
  • Establish and maintain strong working relationships with local professionals (Judges, lawyers, Crown Attorneys) and organizations in the community.
  • Participate in regular supervision with Executive Director.
  • Is expected to carry the SAPL cell phone while the site is open and answer calls if necessary.
  • Participate in team and agency staff meetings and/or professional development opportunities as required. This will be done within the financial restraint of the Centre and in consultation with the Executive Director.
  • Complete any additional duties, not outlined above, as deemed necessary by the Executive Director.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Qualifications

The minimum qualification for this position is a post-secondary education, university degree (B.A. or B.S.W.) preferred, with an emphasis in Social Sciences and three to five years of relevant experience working with children and families. This position requires demonstrated ability to train and supervise staff and volunteers and to work collaboratively with clients/families, community service providers and Ministry personnel. Strong administrative and program management skills are required.
