Location: Remote (from home) – Sarnia-Lambton/Lambton County
Position Type: Casual Fixed Contract
Hours of Work: Weekdays/Weekends – 6am-12pm, 12pm-6pm, 6pm-12am
Office Operation Hours: NA
Salary: $21.35/hr
Expected start date: July 7, 2025
Under direct supervision of the Program Supervisor, the 988 Crisis Line Responder will work in a private space
and are responsible for providing non-judgmental crisis intervention when responding to calls from the
988 Crisis Line. Responders will be provided with the appropriate IT equipment to satisfy the position
requirement.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
• provide non-judgmental crisis intervention when responding to calls which include risk assessment,
problem solving, exploring resources and safety planning with Service Users as per the 988 Guidelines
• Inquire regarding suicide ideation, planning, or attempt in progress, with each Service User call.
• Initiate active rescues when intervention is required.
• Maintain familiarity with applicable community resources, notably Mental Health and Substance Use
Crisis Response Services.
• Maintain the dignity and confidentiality of each caller.
• Participate in team meetings and/or professional development opportunities as required. This will be
done within the financial restraint of the Program and in consultation with the Program Supervisor.

• Must have a private, quiet, confidential space in your own home to work.
• Must have a stable internet provider.
• Responders will be expected to abide by FCC policies and procedures including Computer and Cell
phone usage.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
• Must possess Relevant experience working with vulnerable individuals.
• Excellent written and verbal communications skills.
• Reliable, non-judgmental and empathic approach to individuals.
• Ability to address situations and make decisions in stressful environments.
• Possess a valid negative Vulnerable Sector Police Check.
• Ability to work independently and remotely.
• Must be willing to work flexible hours on a rotating schedule that includes weekends and holidays.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
• A current satisfactory Criminal Reference check, including a Vulnerable Sector check
• Completed or in the process of completing post-secondary program in a related field or equivalent
experience.
