We are pleased to announce that the Ministry of Children and Youth Services is once again offering funding to provide additional respite supports for children (under the age of 18) with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) living in Lambton County. The purpose of the Children’s Autism Spectrum Disorder Respite funding is to provide temporary relief from the physical and emotional demands involved with caring for a child with ASD and/or to enhance the respite services that you may already receive. In order to be considered for 2022-2023 ASD funding, this request must be received by Family Counselling Centre on or before 12:00 noon on Friday, July 15, 2022. Requests must be submitted by mail or fax. E-mail will not be accepted. Eligible children must reside in Lambton County. Please carefully read the application form and follow the instructions provided.
The Local Respite Network Committee in collaboration with Family Counselling Centre determines how many families will be supported each year, keeping in mind the amount of funding allocated needs to be sufficient to offer meaningful respite. The families selected to receive funding will be chosen at random using a computer-generated system. Families selected to receive funds will be notified in writing of their specific allocation. Recipients of ASD respite funds are able to purchase respite services from either a local service provider or from an individual recruited by the family to provide respite services. Families will be given monthly invoices to record their use of the respite funds and these forms must be submitted to Family Counselling Centre for payment. All allocated funds must be used by March 31, 2023. It is the expectation that all funding offered is used as requested.
If you have anyquestions, concerns or would like additional information, please call Hannah Galler, SSAH Resource Worker, at the Family Counselling Centre at (519) 336-0120, Extension 246.
